Answers to the questions you don’t want to ask

1.I’m short, can I still wear maxi dresses?

Absolutely!! Pay close attention to the silhouette of the maxi dress though. Column dresses and styles that are close to the body and don’t use tons of fabric are best if you’re 5’5 and under. Also, make sure to get it hemmed! You want the dress to just barely touch the floor. If it is too long, it will look dowdy and actually make you look shorter.

2. Am I too old to wear off the shoulder tops/dresses?

First and foremost, you need to be comfortable! Even though you don’t need rockin’ arms to pull off this style, if you don’t feel good then you won’t be comfortable. There is no magic “age cutoff” for this style so use your own discretion and also take into account the occasion. This style is one of my favorites because it hides our upper arm (the biggest part) and shows off our shoulders and collar bones (the smallest part). If you don’t like the idea of totally being bare, try a cut out shoulder look instead. This way you are still covered but you get the same idea.

3. What shoes do I need in my closet this spring?

Mules!! That’s right, this 90s shoe trend is BACK! You will love the comfortable stacked heel. Just the other day we had a customer trying on our “On the Go Mule” (pictured above) and when she only had 1 shoe on, she said they were too high for her. But, when she put on the other one she realized how comfortable they were and immediately bought them. Try snagging a pair in nude or camel so you can keep it versatile.

4. Is it too early to wear sandals?

Yes, even though I am guilty of wearing my sandals when it was almost 80 degrees out the other day, I would say in general it is still a little bit too early for flip flops and sandals. Instead, try a ballet flat or my new fave, slip on sneakers. I just bought a pair last week and I love them! They’re so comfy and cute. Plus, you know once the weather heats up you will ditch all your flats and get out your sandals! Enjoy this in between time and use it as an opportunity to wear your closed toe flats. Just hold off for a couple more weeks on your sandals and flip flops!

5. Can I start wearing my white denim/dresses/shoes?

It’s definitely time to break out your white denim! As far as dresses go, stay away from the super summery ones and instead add a light jacket or sweater to transition them. White shoes are also acceptable, but again, try to avoid sandals for a few more weeks.
